My stance for 2010 - I DONT NEED TO DRINK CHAMPAGNE TO SHOW I AM MAKING A DIFFERENCE TO THE WORLD!

Its been about a month now into the new year and thus so far I have not achieved as much as I would like to have but then again its been a busy few weeks!

This year, we have already been greeted by a lashing from mother nature with the disaster in Haiti, which has left many millions in distraught inhumane conditions and the so called leaders of this world seem to be doing very little to help the people having to live through and survive this autrosity. And why do these horrible things happen to those already in poor living conditions?

I am always fascinated by the political mind frame of the people we entrust to lead us and take care of us. They are after human beings themselves however, I wonder sometimes when on the road to political affirmation and aknowledgement, do these people become robots and start playing a point scoring game with us being used as pawns and collateral. I almost feel like we are political lab rats used for various strategic experimentation with no compensation for when things go wrong and our lives are affected because of bad decisions and bad judgment.

I have never really been into politics as i have always detested the way politics has never been used to serve the community but serves their own agendas whilst lining their own pockets and ensuring a safer and better quality of life for their own families and what makes this an even harder pill to swallow is that we pay taxes out of our hard earned wages for this privelege.

I do believe that we do need leaders and i do believe that in times of chaos we do need people who are calm, rational and diligent to provide us with guidance, however i do not believe that those that really can are the ones being allowed to do so! Instead we have various men in suits with large egos and big voices making endless false promises and achieving nothing but destruction.

I may not know everything about politics, but one thing i do know is that we are all very very affected by the way we are treated by our goverments. I have always debated whether i should vote....and i end up not voting, as i always wonder whether my vote really makes the difference that everyone claims/thinks/hopes it will.

Who monitors the politicians and who holds the super power countries accountable for the pain and misery that they cause on the lesser developed countries. And why are all countries of this world not classed as equal but by standards of first world and third world....where is the middle ground, and who can be classed as second world....

The siutation in Haiti is very much a case of people suffering because of a natural disaster not inflicted by civil war or by world war. Their world collapsed through no fault of their own, but yet this situation has become a boxing ring for the world suoer heavy weights to show much muscle power the other one has over the other. Instead of ensuring that the people of Haiti have the medical, food, accomodation and their basic needs met, they have had to ensue days of further trauma whilst watching the action men run around pretending to save the world.

What plans have these sol called super leaders got for the people of Haiti for recovery. What is the after care plan? Do they have one? We in our infinite wisdom of glory should realise that Haiti may not be a safe place to live in and may be the people of Haiti should be offered an option to migrate and make a new life for themselves and improve the quality of their lives. Give them the opportunity to replenish their lives without fear of another natural disaster.

I know that no country is safe from natural disasters, and this is the way of the world, she knows what she is doing and she is definitely trying to tell us something. but are we listening or are we even bothered?

We seem to be too consumed in our quest for self adoration, materialism and anything else that makes us feel good for a moment and then its on to the next....for example all this money being wasted on researching technology...do we really need an IPAD? Do we need another super hitech car? Really, do we ever ask ourselves these questions when we go frivolously spending money.

I am probably alone in the way i think, but you know what i dont really care anymore. I dont see the point of surrounding myself with materialistic objects just to keep up with the Jones knowing that i could be doing something more worthwhile with my money. I can't now go into a West End club for the so-called Elite and play with them and spend money foolishly knowing that somewhere out there some poor child is walkinh around parentless, futureless and hungry. My mind and heart does not allow me the power to forget that had I not been fortunate to be born in to the life i was, my life could be alot worse and if i am not careful i could be a lot worse off.

I dont understand the mentality of a lot of folk today, how can people flaunt their wealth and expect to be hailed as role models. Money has become the devil and is the devil and it seems that money and the showcasing of it, is all that people care to live for these days.

Even when people were holding fund raising events for the Haiti Appeal, i turned my back, as i do not believe or see the way I am helping people suffering by going to a room full of sweaty drunkeds, gyrrating against one another, spraying themselves with champagne as even for one second understanding or even empathising with those dying of disease, malnutrition and neglect! i mean really!

If you really want to help, look around you, look at all the extra materialistic goods that you have lying around you. The extra clothing, shoes, books, cutlery, household furniture etc that you have surrounding yourselves....think about all the vast amounts of stuff that we waste every single year, throw because we replace with the newer version - why don't you donate this to those in the lesser countries? Think about the lives that you can be changing and making easier instead trying to impress those in the same boat as you......

My stance for 2010 with one closed fist in the air is "I DONT NEED TO DRINK CHAMPAGNE TO SHOW I AM MAKING A DIFFERENCE TO THE WORLD!"

Instead holla at me if there is a collection being done....
