Bridesmaids.....if you dont already know, get to know!

I have been reading and hearing some rave reviews of the film Bridesmaids and having being starved of some seriously needed female empowerment, and no, i am not talking xena warrior princess style erin brokovich, but some realy quality relatable femaledom, you can imagine my deep felt orgasm, when an old friend offered me an orange wednesday deal....yay me!

I came flying home after a day out with a group of year 5's visiting the victorian kitchens and grabbed my daughter and drove like a bat out of hell to get to the cinema. I had never experienced an orange wednesday before so it was shocking to see the queues! It is not like an ordinary evening when you pay the £10.00 per persom surcharge to watch a film. To my other astonishment and delight were the number of men who had come with their girlfriends or female friends to watch this movie and you know that the movie is more alluring when the ticketing staff have to make an announcement that the seats for the film were sold out....

So the basis of the story is that Annie, your 30 something female who is relatable in more ways than one, is single, having a very unhealthy friends with benefits relationship with the typical show off man, she has a low self esteem due to the failure of her Cake Baby shop and has the most astronimical friendship with the sensible and soon to be married Lillian. These two who have been friends since the earth began, have their BFF status tested as the preparations for the wedding begins and Lillian's new adopted best friend the very lonely unhappy social buttefly Helen, brings her "i must be the best to feel the best" into the mix. Anne and Helen battle it out from the word go and manage to bring so many relatable funny moments into the demise of Anne's and Lillians friendship. Rita, Becca and Megan, all have their own stories and the incorporation of these different personalities and lives is so immaculate you have no reason not to emphathise with each and every one.

They all bring in the different angles of marriage, the one that is just about to happen, the one that has just happened and the one that happened and then there is the one that is single and is in absolute control of her life and is completely oblivious to what the world thinks!

Bridesmaids deals with the core of the female being, the fact that we are all different and that we dont have to conform to societies mould. There is something for every one. Language is a little foul, but hey, that is what makes this movie so special. The fact that these beautiful women, swear, fart, burp, shit and get drunk! and mainly, the fact that females can make mistakes and be funny! There are some stupid moments that make you scream with laughter as you think oh my god....

There are no cheesy romantic bits, cheesy lines, cheesy moments, there are no moments of awkward silences, long drawn story lines and NO male bashing. Every turn there is laughter and i am not talking ha ha hee laughter, i am talking the real belly wrenching sort. YOU will literally find yourself wanting to buy the DVD for your own personal collection.

This is a movie I would highly recommend, as this can be a perfect date night (men take note), ladies night and in my case a mother daughter bonding date!
